Listing Requirements and Prohibited Items
All listings on Nalomba must be accurate, honest, and comply with our platform policies and South African laws.
Listing requirements:
- Accurate descriptions of items, including their condition and any defects
- Clear, authentic photos of the actual item being listed
- Reasonable and transparent pricing
- Accurate availability information
- Clear pickup/return location and procedures
Prohibited items include:
- Illegal items or substances
- Weapons, explosives, or dangerous materials
- Counterfeit or stolen goods
- Items that violate intellectual property rights
- Hazardous materials or items that pose safety risks
- Personal hygiene items
- Living animals
- Adult content or services
- Items prohibited by South African law
Item Condition and Safety
Lenders are responsible for ensuring that items listed on Nalomba are safe, functional, and in the condition described.
Lenders must:
- Ensure items are clean and in good working condition
- Disclose any defects, damage, or issues with the item
- Provide necessary instructions for safe use
- Maintain and service items regularly if applicable (e.g., power tools, electronics)
- Comply with South African safety standards and regulations applicable to the item (e.g., electrical safety standards)
Pricing and Fees
Pricing on Nalomba should be fair, transparent, and clearly communicated to borrowers.
Guidelines for pricing:
- Set reasonable rental rates relative to the item's value
- Clearly display daily, weekly, and/or monthly rates
- Disclose any additional fees upfront (e.g., cleaning fees, security deposits)
- Do not engage in price gouging during emergencies or high-demand periods
- Comply with all applicable South African consumer protection laws regarding pricing and advertising
Updates to Community Guidelines
These Community Guidelines may be updated periodically to reflect changes in laws, regulations, or platform policies. We will notify users of significant changes through email and platform announcements. By continuing to use Nalomba, you agree to abide by the current version of these guidelines.
